KIRA is a nutrition and progression app built by an independent developer. This page explains, in plain language, what information the app collects, why, and what you can do about it. It isn't a substitute for legal advice — if you have questions about how it applies to you, contact us below.
We only collect what the app needs to work. Everything below is either something you typed in, something you chose to log, or a device permission you can decline.

KIRA asks for microphone access to support its audio-session playback (KIRA's spoken lines). The app does not record, store, or transmit your voice — the permission exists for audio playback infrastructure, not for capturing anything you say.
When you photograph a meal or a side quest, that image is sent once to our AI provider (Anthropic) to identify the food and estimate its nutrition, or to verify a quest. We do not keep a copy of your photo on our servers afterward — only the resulting text (like "grilled chicken salad, 420 kcal, 38g protein") is saved to your account. If you set a profile picture, that image is stored so it can be displayed back to you and, if you choose to appear on the leaderboard, to other users.
We do not use your data to serve third-party ads, and we do not sell your personal information.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active, so the app can keep working the way you'd expect (your history, streak, and rank staying intact).
You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. This is a real deletion, not a deactivation — your account and all associated data (profile, logs, saved meals, settings) are erased from our systems and cannot be recovered.
If you're in the EU/UK, you have rights under the GDPR (access, correction, deletion, portability, and objection); if you're in California, you have similar rights under the CCPA. Contact us below to exercise any of these.
Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and access to it in our database is restricted by row-level security, so your account's data is only ever readable by your own authenticated session — not by other users, and not by us browsing the database casually. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect your information.
KIRA is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
If we make a meaningful change to how we handle your data, we'll update the date at the top of this page. We encourage checking back occasionally, especially before a major app update.

You must be at least 13 years old to create a KIRA account. If you're under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission to use it. By signing up, you're confirming you meet this requirement.
You can create an account with an email and password, or by signing in with Google or Apple. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for anything that happens under your account. Provide accurate information when you sign up — your calorie and macro targets are calculated from what you enter, so inaccurate details mean inaccurate targets.
KIRA includes a public leaderboard and a friends list where other users can see your username. To keep that a decent place to be:
Every leaderboard row has Report and Block actions — use them if someone's out of line. Reported accounts are reviewed, and violations can result in a warning or account termination at our discretion.
You keep ownership of what you submit — your username, profile picture, meal photos, and journal notes. By submitting a username or profile picture, you're giving KIRA permission to display it back to you and, where applicable (the leaderboard, friends list), to other users. You're responsible for making sure you have the rights to anything you upload, and for not uploading anything that violates the acceptable-use rules above.
KIRA estimates calories, macros, and healthy weight ranges from photos and the information you provide. These are estimates, not medical advice. The app reminds you of this at the points where it matters most — when you set or change a weight goal — but it applies everywhere: check with a doctor before starting or changing a nutrition or weight-management plan, especially if you have an existing health condition.
KIRA's Store sells cosmetic avatars and themes using an in-app currency earned by playing — logging meals, completing quests, and climbing the rank ladder. There are no real-money purchases in KIRA today. If that changes in the future, we'll update these terms and the App Store / Play Store listing before any real-money purchase option goes live.
KIRA relies on a small number of outside services to work — Supabase for accounts and data, Anthropic for AI meal analysis and coaching, ElevenLabs for voice synthesis, Google and Apple for sign-in, Resend for account emails, and Open Food Facts for barcode lookups. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what each one receives. Your use of KIRA is also subject to those providers' own terms where relevant to the service they provide.
KIRA is built and maintained by an independent developer, not a large company with an SLA. We aim to keep it running reliably, but features, screens, and these terms may change as the app evolves. If we make a meaningful change to these terms, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account — this is a real, permanent deletion of your account and data, not a deactivation. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates the acceptable-use rules above, at our discretion, with or without notice depending on severity.
KIRA is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. AI-estimated nutrition data can be inaccurate — verify anything that matters to your health with a reliable source. To the fullest extent permitted by law, KIRA and its developer aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
